About the work

Vessels of Memory is a reflection on how memories are kept. These metaphorical vessels are custodians of a personal history, of memory, of an emotional bond with home.

"Home, for me, is not only a place where I live or have lived but a space in which a sense of steadiness and belonging is formed. Memories of it matter because they return a feeling of wholeness and help me understand where I came from and what I can lean on. When a place changes or becomes unreachable, memory is the only way left to hold on to it. The series became an attempt to keep those memories in a form."

Impressions of plants and other natural materials gathered at that place are integral to the works — traces of presence, an archive carried over into material. They do not illustrate a particular place literally; they preserve the feeling of it.
